The Designers
Featured in the issue is a gorgeous kitchen project that Metropolitan designer Evan Landry created with interior designer Robin M. Anderson. Evan and Robin have a great relationship and each bring their expertise to each project they work on together. Evan guides the layout and functionality conversations, while Robin takes lead with the finishes and style pieces of the project. Of working together, Robin says “Evan taught me so much with this project!”
Combining Styles
Robin did a great job of intertwining traditional and contemporary styles together. Traditional details such as inset cabinets and metal mesh doors pair perfectly with modern touches including a waterfall leg countertop and custom hood.
The homeowners wanted to complement the traditional style of the home’s exterior, but bring in contemporary elements to make the kitchen feel updated and fresh. The star of the kitchen is certainly the beautiful blue La Cornue stove that acts as the anchor for all the other elements of the kitchen.
This project was featured in the kitchen guide issue because of how well all the textures, styles and colors worked together.
Built for a Family
The kitchen is for a young family who loves to cook, and so they needed durable materials, and thus chose quartz countertops so they wouldn’t have to worry about scratching, staining and etching. The waterfall edge detail was added to lend a dramatic flair to the space and give the room a contemporary edge.
The family sacrificed having more upper cabinetry to allow the room to feel airy and open, wanting the natural light from the window wall to have ample exposure.
Unique Touches
Other elements of the kitchen, such as the farmhouse sink and window treatments, create a homey vibe and bring coziness to the space.
