Metropolitan’s President, Stuart, Honored by Habitat

Stuart Elfland, President of Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops, received a 2019 Distinguished Service Award from Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston at their annual signature event, the American Dream Awards Breakfast, for his philanthropic generosity.  The event was held at the Seaport Boston Hotel on Monday, April 22nd.

Since 2016, Metropolitan has donated new kitchen cabinets and countertops for nine Habitat homes in Boston.  Additionally, Metropolitan has given more than 1,000 new and showroom-quality cabinets, parts, and accessories to Habitat’s ReStore in West Roxbury. Stuart recently told Habitat that “When I learned Habitat Greater Boston serves people right in my community, I knew I could help, and it seemed natural to make use of my company’s capabilities.”

Metropolitan and Habitat’s relationship has continuously grown over the past few years and includes participation from Metropolitan employees. On three separate volunteer days, Metropolitan office workers and factory employees have donated their time to install Metropolitan cabinets in the new Habitat homes.  Having the Habitat mission woven into the company has had a major impact throughout the Metropolitan organization, which currently numbers 180.

Lark Palermo, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston, Inc. said “We’re thrilled to be honoring Stuart Elfland for his extraordinary philanthropy at this year’s American Dream Awards Breakfast.  His company, Metropolitan Cabinets, produces high end cabinets and other products typically found in custom designed residences throughout New England. Because of Stuart’s generosity, they are now also in the homes of local Habitat families.”
