GRANITE
Granite is a natural stone and is one of the hardest materials created in nature.   Granite is quarried throughout the world and comes in thousands of colors and unique patterns.  When compared to other stone surfaces, granite encompasses a more dense solid look and feel.  Common aesthetic characteristics of granite are the grain movement and overall patterns.  These patterns throughout the stone often portray more of a speckled blending of colors or a chunky pattern depending on the size variation of the minerals in that particular granite.

ENGINEERED STONE
Engineered stone is a manufactured surface that has many high quality characteristics and is virtually maintenance free.  We carry both Zodiaq and Caesarstone brands.  This "stone" surface is composed of 93% crushed quartz which is one of natures strongest minerals. The only minerals harder than quartz are diamond, sapphire and topaz.  It is a non-porous material needing no sealer that is scratch resistant, heat resistant & stain resistant. The one aesthetic characteristic that is prominent with engineered stone is the consistency in pattern.  Rather than having a more fluid and uncontrolled pattern characteristic of natural stone, engineered stone has a controlled consistency in pattern and movement.  Although this material is manufactured, it still has the look and feel of natural stone.

MARBLE
Marble is an all-natural stone that is much softer than most countertop surfaces and can scratch very easily without proper care.  Marble patterns usually have waves of color running through them and are often described as "veiny".  Marble is known for its beauty and classic elegance with its soft translucent quality.  The color selection of marble is on the more subdued side of the color spectrum.  The colors are usually more than granites or engineered stones.

Granite, quartz and marble countertops are fabricated here at Metropolitan and installed by our experienced team. In addition, some vanity countertops are available pre-made and ready to be installed by your contractor or plumber.
